Not only is the system you install important, you need to know you have a commercial HVAC service contractor that will be there when you need them. Here are five questions to ask your HVAC service provider to make sure you have the right company.

  1. How quick is your emergency service? Most HVAC contractors will say they have 24-hour emergency service, but what is their average response time? You need a company that can respond immediately, within a few hours at maximum.
  2. What level of experience do your technicians have? You don’t want an apprentice service tech trying to fix a complex problem on your HVAC. Find a contractor that requires their techs to have several years of experience.
  3. Who will field my customer service calls? When you call your HVAC provider, are you getting a live, experienced HVAC professional or an answering service? You need to know you will have someone who can help you when you A/C goes out in the middle of a hot July night.
  4. Is your team experienced with complex automation and control issues? It is not just your HVAC unit that can cause you issues, it is also the automation and control system. Make sure you contractor is well-versed in all aspects of commercial HVAC service.
  5. What are your maintenance and retrofit services? You need a company that will provided preventive maintenance to avoid breakdowns and can implement a retrofit if necessary down the road.

Make sure your HVAC contractor can meet your commercial needs when it really counts. If they cannot answer these questions with the right answers, it may be time to find a provider that can.
